Fifty years ago, virtually all lawyers wrote wills and were prepared to go to court when people were not satisfied with the results. Today it appears to be a dying area. We do not think so.
Business People’s Needs
All business people have personal needs that relate to their business, their family, and their participation in the economic situation that they have built and created. Having an appropriate estate plan including a will, durable power of attorney, health care power, and living will are basic things that every business person should attend to. We believe in that and offer a flat rate of $500 to our existing clients to prepare these documents and put them in place.
Specialized Large Estates
There is a need for specialized treatment if your estate is likely to exceed $5 million and therefore be subject to federal estate taxes. We will assist you in dealing with this situation including referrals to experts with whom we deal if necessary.
Estate Litigation
There is another element of estate work that very few lawyers are dealing with today and that is litigation before the various probate courts and appeals before the state court system. Virtually all estate litigation is local and tends to be not aggressively contested. We disagree. We believe there are many situations in the administration of an estate, the effectiveness of a will to make distributions, and other estate related matters that should be litigated because of unfairness to the parties involved.
