Vigorous representation of minority businesses is an issue of principle for us.
MINORITY BUSINESS INFRASTRUCTURE
We have spent significant time constructing and implementing approved minority business structures. We understand the complexity of the regulations and how to comply with them. Perhaps more importantly, we have developed systems for ensuring that infrastructure is in place to allow your minority business to successfully perform in ever-increasing job size.
Many very large public works projects are now setting goals of 20 - 30% minority business participation. While these goals may be unattainable in the near term, companies should participate in obtaining them. There are real benefits in terms of preferential award of contracts and building qualified subcontractor base.
We have consultants we work with regularly to build infrastructure for companies - financial, contracts administration, bonding, and technical. It is often simply a matter of identifying what must be done - accomplishing it is within your company's grasp already. For the last two years, we have had a close link with Kustom Events International (KEI) and Carl Evans, a Washington, DC consultancy. We have worked together to build systems to provide infrastructure for minority businesses to make them attractive to large businesses on increasingly expanding publics works jobs.
HOLMES PITTMAN & HARAGUCHI also represents a wide range of minority businesses including those in scaffolding, plumbing and electrical, framing, safety netting, shuttle services, and ship building and repair.
Vigorous representation of minority businesses is an issue of principle for us as well. Virtually all of us are immigrants in this country, and cultural diversity is the foundation of our great strength and resilience as a nation. We owe it to all fellow citizens and residents to see that they receive fair and adequate consideration and representation in legal and business affairs.
